Checkups + Cleanings

We encourage our patients to have a dental checkup and cleaning twice a year, even if they follow a diligent oral care routine at home.
Many dental problems do not become apparent until there is pain or sensitivity, when the problem has become advanced. Preventative checkups and cleaning will help avoid this.
If this is your first with us, we’ll spend some time getting to know you so that we can provide the most personalized experience possible. We welcome all your questions, and are happy to explain all aspects of the checkup and cleaning. As a rule, we always schedule extra time for checkups so that you won’t be rushed.
At your dental cleaning, our hygienist will remove dental plaque that builds up in hard to reach places in the mouth and will then polish and floss your teeth. This will be followed by a dental exam.
Using a hand mirror and measuring tool, we’ll explore your teeth, gums and mouth to look for early signs of a problem, such as a cavity or gum deterioration which could affect your smile. We’ll also invite you to tell us about any changes you’ve noticed such as tooth or gum sensitivity, discomfort or bad breath.
At some visits, we may also want to take quick digital X-rays to get a closer and more detailed look at your teeth. X-rays also give us a reference point from which to monitor any changes in between visits.
Finally, we will take time to review your at-home brushing and flossing techniques so that you can stay on top of your oral health! As much as we’d love to see you again, we believe that proactive, daily oral health is the best way to prevent additional dentist visits. If you need a free toothbrush, toothpaste, floss or a product recommendation for sensitive gums, just ask. Our staff is happy to be an on-call resource for you.
An absolute promise from Dr. Asaro is that patients are treated like family and we will always offer multiple treatment options to suit your needs.
